This position will be located in the Huntsville, AL area.

The BD Activities Associate serves to augment the Business Development Team in responding to Federal Government Solicitations. This position supports capture activities, supports and coordinates the development of award winning proposals, and supports the BD team in administrative functions.


Duties and Responsibilities:

Capture Activities:

  • Monitors RFP/RFQ, RFI, Sources Sought releases, and other solicitations on a daily, weekly basis.

  • Tracks potential IDIQ opportunities

  • Reviews and analyzes solicitations (RFI’s, RFQ’s, RFP’s, etc.) of interest.

Proposal Activities:

  • Analyzes final solicitation documents and requirements, and supports the development and implementation of proposal outlines, schedules, storyboards, and compliance matrices.

  • Participates in writing aspects of all proposal volumes (technical approach, management plan, quality assurance plans, etc.) to meet RFP requirements and specification that capture the company’s approach to the customer’s key issues and requirements.

  • Conceptualizes, writes, and reviews compelling documents while maintaining compliance with technical requirements, including past performance documentation, capabilities descriptions, and management and project plans.

  • Ensures the incorporation of visually appealing, informative technical graphics and illustrations (such as charts, process flows, and screenshots).

  • Interviews subject matter experts to understand processes, technologies, business needs, and other contextual details to elicit the appropriate technical information to compose high-quality technical write-ups.

  • Coordinates with team members to ensure the completion of all writing assignments, and compiling and/or editing corporate information, personnel requirements, resumes, and past performance descriptions.

Capture Activities:

  • Supports the capture process and associate gate reviews.

Proposal Activities:

  • Supports the evaluation of proposal sections for quality, consistency, coherence, clarity, and compliance with technical requirements and for alignment with strategies and themes.

  • Maintains a library of proposals and other supporting documentation submitted to customers and prospects.

  • As required, works closely with prime/subcontractors and represents the company in a professional manner.

  • Assists with guiding and implementing capture and proposal development processes and strategies.


Qualifications include:

  • B.A. or B.S. Undergraduate Degree in Business, Journalism, Marketing, Communication, Technical Writing, or other related discipline.

  • Must have a thorough knowledge of the RFP and Federal Government procurement processes; especially responding to GWAC and IDIQ proposal requests.

  • Must be able to work independently, take initiative, and manage responsibilities effectively – including communication of issues as they arise, so they can be quickly addressed.

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, drive, and commitment with the ability to interact appropriately at all levels from technical to management to senior leadership within an organization.

  • Proven team player/lead willing to roll up the sleeves to work alongside the team to achieve success which equates to developing winning proposals. This includes the ability to form and maintain successful relationships and collaborate with both internal teams and teaming partners.

  • Must have strong communication and organizational skills, as well as attention to detail.

  • Must have a proven history of working multiple competing priorities successfully and managing workload effectively, as well as working under pressure while producing flawless work under tight deadlines.

  • Must have 2-3 years of work experience with researching, writing, and documentation.

  • Experienced in advanced features of MS Word with knowledge of other software tools such as MS Excel and MS PowerPoint. MS SharePoint experience is preferred.

  • Must be proactive, flexible, and able to switch gears quickly from one project to the next.

  • Pass a local background check and able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance if required.

Working conditions

  • Must be able to work effectively in a virtual environment as well as travel occasionally.

  • Must be able to work extended hours during proposal preparation or as needed for other relevant duties as directed.
