We are looking to expand our Federal/Commercial business under the direction of the Senior Vice President for Federal Business Development by hiring an experienced business development expert. Our goal is to hire a highly qualified individual, experienced in selling Cloud-based, data integration solutions, who is ready for a challenge and a desire to be a part of a small progressive firm with a big presence, and who places a premium on its employees and their success.


The Business Development reports directly to the corporate Senior Vice president for Federal Business Development. The “BD” position is a hands on, direct activity position with requirements to apply his or her skills and experience(s) in the field. The BD position will work closely with and provide support and advice to senior management in negotiations, risk assessment and other business development projects in association with BD initiatives. This includes assist in developing strategic vision and direction for the corporate Federal BD practice as well as coordinating capture efforts with the other Teksouth BD activities located at corporate locations in Birmingham, Huntsville and Montgomery Alabama, Washington DC, Dayton Ohio, Warner Robins Georgia, and other Conus/O-Conus locations as required.

The main focus of our BD is to market Teksouth’s Entellifusion™ solution to Federal and Commercial customers as well as other data integration and reporting services. He or she must have strong IT understanding with proven success in talking to potential clients regarding IT solutions related to Data Warehousing, Data and Systems Integration, Data Retrieval, Business Intelligence, Decision Support and Cyber Security, etc. The position assists in managing client interaction with DoD and other Federal Agencies, developing the teaming (partnering) decisions, and is take key role to ensure Teksouth has success in marketing and capturing contracts in DoD and other Federal areas. This includes research and recognizing customer business requirements and developing relevant solutions related to Services and IT capabilities to support and improve client business practices.

Supporting activities include developing call plans, perform sales calls and face-to-face meetings, and securing contracts for services and support. Requires ability to leverage enterprise-wide capabilities to meet the customer’s requirements competitively. Must be hands on participant in leading, managing, developing all proposal activities in support of the Capture Manager, from pre-RFP planning to proposal delivery, finishing with a thorough lessons learned process. The BD is responsible for assisting in creating strategic company alliances to access contracting vehicles to expand our corporate reach with a goal to provide clients and contracting officer’s access to Teksouth services and capabilities.


Summary of Responsibilities and Performance Requirements

  • Proven leader and team player willing to “roll-up their sleeves” to work alongside others to win contracts”.

  • Access to decision authorities and strong contacts in Federal Departments and Agencies, especially, DOD, (to include COCOMs, Air Force, Army, Navy and Marines), DHS, DHHS, and DOL.

  • Knowledgeable in Government DSS, BI, and data integration solutions and deploying those solutions in a cloud-based environment.

  • Knowledgeable in current DOD issues effecting Federal contracting requirements, (in-sourcing, small business activities, DOD funding cuts, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Federal Government procurement acquisition process (FAR’s), budgeting and funding process

  • Ability to managing client relationship to enhance corporate image in the Federal market and Business community

  • Facilitate business alliances and teaming arrangements to expand business opportunities

  • Understanding the requirements and importance of marketing, corporate branding and message development

  • Participate in professional/community events and organizations…Chamber of Commerce, NMCA, AFCEA, DECC, ASMC, etc.

  • Working knowledge of Business Development lead identification software (EBUY, Centurion, Microsoft Office Suite, FedBizOps, etc.)

  • Prepare and present individual monthly status report on BD activity

  • Past performance in meeting or exceeding established sales goals

Technical/Personal Qualifications

  • Technical Sales, Data Reporting, Microsoft, SQL, Database

o Experience in selling enterprise DSS, BI, or data integration solutions

o Experience in selling cloud-based solutions

  • 10+ years of experience working with executive level IT, DoD, Government contacts and coming from a strong technical background – experience may come from employment with DOD or other Federal Department

o Minimum of 5 years of recent successful performance in Business Development focused in DOD or Service Components and other agencies in the federal sector

o Military or government civilian background a plus

  • Must also be able to develop initial technical presentations for prospective customers.

  • Deep and diverse technical background across database, reporting, Microsoft, SQL, DoD and DISA is preferred.

  • Education: Require Bachelor’s degree, Masters in related field, a plus

  • DOD Secret Security clearance or the ability to obtain one

  • U.S. Citizen

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills demonstrating professionalism, self-confidence, drive, and commitment with the ability to interact appropriately at all levels from technical to management to senior leadership within an organization.

  • Polished communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to properly format, develop, write and present sales proposals, client presentations, white papers, etc.,

  • Proficient in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel

  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and commitment to company values

Employment Details

Duty Location: National Capital Region

  • Physical and Virtual: Tele-working, office work, field work, client sites

  • Travel: As needed-expect both local and outside local area …30-40 percent of the time
